Elnora Haack

Elnora was born February 10, 1921, in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Oscar and Olga (Schlichting) Metscher. Elnora attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Sheboygan and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1940. She married Walter R. Haack of Sheboygan at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sheboygan in 1946.

Following her marriage, Elnora was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where she was a member of the quilting group, the Ladies Aid, the Altar Guild, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and the Adult Choir. In addition to being active in her church, Elnora also sang with the Sheboygan Chordaliers, served as an election poll worker, and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Auxiliary.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, her brother, Harold Metscher, her grandson, Curtis Brown, her sister-in-law, Marilyn Metscher, and brothers-in-law, Edward Handrow and Harry Bokunevitz.

Survivors include her three children, Randall (Kathy) Haack of Jarrettsville, MD, Ruth Williams of Milwaukee, and Mary (James) Zawatzke of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Kelly Jacobs, Leslie Angove, and Sara Williams; three great-grandchildren, Andrea Rawson, Amerin Idell, and Makayla Davis. She is further survived by two brothers, Raymond Metscher and Marvin (Joan) Metscher; four sisters, Arline Handrow, Laverne Bokunevitz, Marion (Edward) Soch and Sharon (Grant) Mattes; one sister-in-law, Betsy Metscher and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Elnora will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1634 Illinois Avenue, Sheboygan by Rev. Adam Scheblein, Pastor. A time of visitation and support will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
