

Gloria was born October 13, 1931 in Greenbush, Wisconsin to James and Lily (LaBudde) Schockmel. She graduated from Plymouth High School, Class of 1948. Gloria continued her education at Sheboygan County Normal School ultimately earning a Masters Degree in Education at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.
Gloria began teaching at Hulls Crossing, a one room school house in the Town of Rhine and later for the Sheboygan Public School System at Mapledale, Pigeon River and Washington Elementary schools. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years.
On August 16, 1952 Gloria and Charles R. Brickner were united in marriage at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong, WI. The couple resided on N. 8th St. for many years and most recently in the Mapledale Community. Charles preceded her in death on December 23, 2008.
Gloria was a long time member of Holy Name Parish.
Survivors include four children: Robert (Melissa) Brickner of Largo, Florida; Margaret Snyder of Delafield, WI and her children, Lily, Rob and John; Phillip (Sue) Brickner of Wausau; and Teresa Brickner of Whitefish Bay, WI; a sister, Marie Calvey of Plymouth; a brother, Gerald (Karen) Schockmel of Henderson, NV; and other family members, and loyal friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 2:30 P.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church by Rev. James E. Connell, the Pastor. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family extends their thanks to the caregivers at Shorehaven, for their kindness and concern.
Gloria will always be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and sister, exceptional educator, devoted grandmother (Damma), Jeopardy whiz, puzzle fanatic and all around good egg. She will be dearly missed.
