

Tom was born January 26, 1944 in Sheboygan to Oscar and Ida Mae (Schmidt) Richards. He attended Sheboygan Central School and served his country in the US Army 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles) from 1962 – 1965.
On July 27, 1968 Tom and Diane Kay Eckes were united in marriage at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Tom was employed at Thomas Industries as a die cast operator until his retirement in 2012 due to illness.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Tom was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed golfing with his sons and brothers.
In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by two sons, Travis (Michelle Cullen) Richards of Hingham and Christopher L. Richards of Sheboygan; one grandson, Jacob Thomas Richards of Hingham; his brothers and sisters, Jim Summers, Patricia Wensauer both of Sheboygan, Betty Tershner (special friend, Donald Melville) of Sheboygan Falls, George (Sharon) Richards of Sheboygan, Leroy Richards of Oostburg, Mike (Gladys) Richards, Ronald Richards, both of Sheboygan; his in laws, Darrel (Aloha) Eckes of Wausau, Joan Eckes of Schofield, Marlene Lapinski of Sheboygan Falls, Richard Eckes (special friend, Diane Giese) of Waupun, Nancy Felch (special friend, Del Miller) of Kohler, Kathy Hogan, of Sheboygan; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Bert Wensauer.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Eternal Light at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Adam L. Scheblein, Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
