Nécrologie de Betty Jane (McCoy) Shuler
Betty Jane McCoy Shuler, 79, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully at her home on June 11, 2018 from complications of supranuclear palsy. She was born on November 3, 1938, in Page County and was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Lottie May Cubbage McCoy. Betty worked at Comsonics, AMP, GE, Coors and numerous other places. She spent her entire life supporting and giving to others. Betty is survived by her husband, Page Shuler; they were married for 64 years. Also surviving are two children, Patty Whitmer and husband, Frank; and Scott Shuler; three grandchildren, her caregiver, Diane Shifflett and husband, Danny, Mike and Robert Whitmer; six great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; one sister, Bonnie Moyer; numerous nieces and nephews who never came to visit during her illness the last four years; and a very special close friend, who was there throughout her life, Helen Freeze. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers. At her request her body was donated to the Virginia State Anatomical Program. Friends may visit at her home anytime, honoring her request there will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to Shenandoah Rescue Squad, 544 4th St., Shenandoah VA 22849; Shenandoah Fire Department, 201 Pennsylvania Ave., Shenandoah, VA 22849; Page Paws, P.O. Box 269, Luray, VA 22835; or Page SPCA, P. O. Box 62, Luray, VA 22835, in her memory. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.
