

Charles Edward Dockery, age 76, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 29, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Naefus, Kentucky on April 12, 1947, to the late Jesse and Gertude Dockery.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Eric Dockery; his siblings, James Dockery, Ralph Dockery, Alice Coy, and his infant sister, Melvine Dockery; his great grandson, Garrett Dockery; along with nephews, Jim Dockery, Greg Dockery and John Claridy.
Charles attended Calvary Hill Baptist Church. He was an ordained Deacon, he was an Evangelist preacher, he sang in the Gospel group Pilgrims for Jesus, he was a volunteer firefighter at Nichols Fire Department, a member of Miles Masonic Lodge 341, and was previously active at the youth football league and other sports. He enjoyed carpentry work, hunting, music and time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by so many who loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Dockery; his children, Kevin Dockery (Rhonda), Tony Dockery (Stacie), Jonathan Dockery (Christy) and Karen James (Ricky); his siblings, Hazel Newton, Wendell Dockery, and Joe Dockery (Patty); 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Calvary Hill Baptist Church 645 Coral Ridge Road Shepherdsville, with burial to follow at Mount Eden Cemetery. Visitations will be Monday 11 am until 8 pm at Hardy-Close Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, visitations on Tuesday from 9 am until time of service at the church.
