David Lewis Gaffney

David Lewis Gaffney, age 64, of Shepherdsville returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 6, 2025. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday, November 27, 1960, to the late Edward Gaffney and Geraldine Hill. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Gaffney, along with his stepparents, James Hill and Dixie Gaffney. 

David was a Baptist by faith. He enjoyed everything outdoors, especially fishing, boating and camping trips. He also enjoyed watching his favorite teams the Louisville Cardinal and the Baltimore Ravens. He will be sadly missed by so many who loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 35 years, Karen Gaffney; his children, Tabitha Gaffney, Marcus Wright (Melanie), Mary Wright (Zach), Krissy Wright (TJ), Jamie Gaffney, Anthony Welch, Layla Gaffney, Lilly Gaffney, Kadien Gaffney and Leo Gaffney; his sister, Theresa Jones; his step siblings, Penny Childress, Pat Childress and Lora Hill (David); 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; his nieces, Holly Mills, Amanda Erbele and Mindy Marie; along with a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 11, 2025, in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 South Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with cremation to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
