

Derrick Wayne Green, age 53, of Louisville, KY passed away on June 10, 2025. He was born on May 3, 1972, to the late Delbert Wayne Green and Patricia Wendy Strickland (Kirkpatrick). Derrick was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Dena Annette Green. Derrick described their marriage as a match made in heaven. Derrick was a Graduate of Fern Creek High School. His profession was in commercial maintenance, and worked for several companies in Louisville, Nevada and Mississippi. Derrick loved the outdoors. He had a real passion for hunting and fishing. Derrick truly enjoyed spending his time fishing with the people he cared about. He loved to laugh and play practical jokes. He had many hobbies that included planting, aquariums, playing Dungeons and Dragons, collecting comic books, and vintage toys. Derrick carried a deep sense of gratitude for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program of Louisville, a non-profit organization that paired him with his “Big Brother” Wayne Kern. Wayne was very beloved by Derrick, and they continued their wonderful friendship until Wayne’s passing. Derrick leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brother, Ryan Green, nephew, Travis Green, his aunts, Keely Lowe (Toney), Wanda Arnold, Jennie White (Gerardo), cousins, Dawn Blanton (Jason), Rob Otis (Amy), Keegan Deweese, Houston Deweese (Lauren), Margaret Arnold, Michael Arnold, Tonia Green Tatum, Billiejo Green, Katrina Wheatcraft, Danielle Krages Thomas (Byron), Todd Coffee, Amanda French (Chris), Melissa Myers, Jim Lutes, William Lutes (Baylee), Bobby Lutes, Tiffani Johnson (Dylan), Kimberly Fox and a host of wonderful friends, Chuck and his granddaughter Elizebeth, Dennis, Jeremy and Gretchen, to name a few and many other extended family members. Derrick’s wishes were for him and his wife Dena to “find their way back to the gulf”, where they made a home in Gulfport, Mississippi for much of their marriage. Derrick did not want a service, instead he requested that for friends and loved ones who wished to celebrate his life, to donate to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters non-profit organization.
