Gordon L. Johnson

Gordon L. “Boone/Benny” Johnson age 53 of the South end passed away at home on Sunday, July 14 of a heart attack due to complications from high blood pressure.  He was the son of the late Gordon Sr. and Doris (Lee) Johnson. He is on his race to Heaven to join his parents Gordon Sr. and Doris (Lee) Johnson, brother Bobby Johnson, his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves to cherish his wit, humor, smile and many stories his beloved son Jeremy (Cassy) Thurman; sisters Debbie (Kenny) Sullivan, Kathy (Jerry) Bovinet, Glenda Randolph; brother Raymond (Jennifer) Johnson; sister-in-law Terri Johnson; the light and love of his life grandson, Ashton; his beautiful nieces and handsome nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins; his Louisville Motor Speedway and Sportsdrome friends and extended family; and dear friends “Memaw” (Cynthia) Thurman and Gaila Lee.  A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 S. Buckman Street, Shepherdsville.  Friends may pay their respects from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardy-Close Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family or the American Heart Association.
