Larry Murphy

Larry Thomas Murphy Sr. age 71, of Shepherdsville returned to his Heavenly Father and Saturday, November 9, 2025. He was born in Louisville on Wednesday, July 21, 1954, to the late Leroy and Geneva Murphy. He was a hard worker and always working to support his family. Larry will be fondly remembered for his compassion and giving nature when it came to helping others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Leroy Murphy, a brother Billy Murphy Sr., nephew, Charles Nelson, brothers-in-law’s, Ray Nelson and Jack Worner.

He is survived by his wife Dale Murphy; his children, Steven Murphy (Niki), Nancy Woolett (Dale), Tonya Frances, David Murphy, and Larry Murphy Jr., his grandchildren, Brytni, Haili, Maci, Tori, Lelan, Linken, Alana, Taylor, Nevaeh, Harley, Abby, Savannah and Kelly; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Worner, Betty Nelson, Donald Murphy, William Murphy, Eddie Shuffitt along with a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12 noon in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 S. Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with burial to follow at Cain Family Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects from 2 pm to 8 pm on Friday and from 9am till time of service at 12 noon.
