Roger Dale Dawson

    Roger Dale Dawson, age 69, formally of Shepherdsville KY, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Venice, Florida where he had lived for the last 17 years. He was born on Friday, September 17, 1954, to the late Joseph R. and Emma Dawson.  

   He moved to Venice, Florida in 2006 after retiring from Ford UAW, and worked as a hospitality manager at Ramblers Rest Resort in Venice and loved his job and all the great people he met. He loved flowers, sports, and time with his grandchildren. His favorite teams were the Kentucky Wildcats, Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays. Roger will be sadly missed by so many lives he touched. 

   Roger leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 18 years, Anita Dawson; his son, Shawn Dawson; his siblings, Andy Dawson (Faye), Mary Wilson (Greg), Donnie Dawson (Darlene) and Rick Dawson (Patti); his step daughter’s Lindy, Charlotte and Lisa; his wife’s 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; his good friend, Kim Young Mayer; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and all his friends at Ramblers Rest Resort.

  Funeral service will be at 2 pm Sunday, November 19, 2023, in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 S. Buckman Street, Shepherdsville, with cremation to follow. Visitations will be Saturday 2 pm until 8 pm and Sunday 10 am until time of service at 2 pm.
