Charles Raffo Ballard, Jr.

Mr. Charles Raffo Ballard, Jr., age 90, of Pioneer Village returned to his Heavenly Father on October 10, 2021. Mr. Ballard was born on October 10, 1931, in Louisville, KY to the late Charles, Sr. and Maude (Culver) Ballard. Mr. Ballard was known by many names, Charlie, Sonny, Slimmy, Duetz, and Paps. He retired from Louisville Fire Brick and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a former member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and lifetime member of Eagles AC. He was a current member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and a frequent, faithful patron of Goodwill Industries. Among those that preceded him in death are his parents, his lovely bride of 59 years, Dolores Leona "Mams" (Moch) Ballard; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Paula Ballback, Charles Ballard (Mary), and Michele Kelien (Steve); grandchildren, Kirk Brentzel (Dana), Michael Ballback (Michaela), Brittany, Kaitlyn, Joseph, and Daniel Ballard, Carlos Cortes, and Stacy Kelien; great-grandchildren, Jada and Sonny Brentzel; and a host of family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 am on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (11501 Maple Way Louisville, KY 40229) with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 1-8 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road).
