Charles E. Sanders

Mr. Charles Sanders, age 86, of Louisville passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Mr. Sanders was born in Leitchfield, KY on April 26, 1934 to the late Edgar Sanders and Dona (Vincent) Sanders. Mr. Sanders worked for Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as the ground supervisor and head of security until his retirement. He also belonged to Blue Lick United Baptist Church for over 60 years as a faithful member. He loved nature, flowers, fishing, hunting and his family was his world.

Among those who preceded him in death are, his stepmother, Anna Sanders; brothers, Russell Sanders, Ed Sanders Jr., and Johnny Sanders; 2 sisters, Emma Lou Jaggers and Arlene Stone.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 62 years, Clara (Keller) Sanders; 2 sisters, Judy Dermitt (Jerry) and Maryellen Higdon (Daymond); 4 brothers, Bobby Sanders (Linda), Billy Sanders (Buelah), Ronnie Sanders (Regina), and Irvin Sanders (Ronella); daughters, Sandi Boggs, Kathy Duvall (Corky), Carolyn Sanders, and Tammy Johanboeke (Alan); 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 1: 00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). Funeral service will be conducted at noon on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Blue Lick United Baptist Church (4271 East Blue Lick Road Louisville, KY 40229) with burial to follow at Lone Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery (5410 Mount Washington Road Louisville, KY 40229).
