

Daniel "Danny" Aloysius Jones, aged 87, passed away on December 1, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on December 18, 1936 in Houston, Texas, Danny's life was marked by his profound kindness, generosity, and a magnetic personality that drew people to him. He believed that everybody is doing the best they can with their current level of awareness, a philosophy that guided his interactions and endeared him to many. Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances and Aloysius Jones, and sons, Michael and David.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Roberta; his children, Dane, Donny, and Danielle; his sister, Janie Jones Gray; his grandchildren, West, Natalie, and Ja'Vin; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Taylor, Sylus, Dakota, and Sylvia.
A proud alumnus of Flaget High School in Louisville, Kentucky and former student at Bellarmine University, Danny went on to have a distinguished career in the gaming industry. He began as a graveyard shift boss at The Horseshoe Casino in the 1960s. He later managed a casino on a cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale and a casino in Aruba, where he created and developed Caribbean Stud poker.
Danny also served in the U.S. Army.
Danny was the Kentucky Golden Gloves champion and later had 17 wins in 19 professional fights. He was an avid golfer for many years. He and Roberta shared a deep love for rescue dogs, caring for many beloved dogs over the years, including Andy Boy, Sugar, Pedro, Opie, and Ruby.
A memorial service to celebrate Danny will be held at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2024. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. Danny's generosity and spirit will be remembered by all who knew him as a beacon of joy and kindness.
