Dennis Michael Lawrence

Mr. Dennis Michael Lawrence, age 71, of Fairdale returned to his Heavenly Father on September 12, 2019. Mr. Lawrence was born on March 4, 1948 in Louisville to the late Edwin DeRoy and Katherine (McFall) Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was a Vietnam veteran. He was retired from Cornell Harbison Excavation after 30 years of service as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Lawrence was a faithful member of Mt. Holly United Methodist Church.

Among those that preceded him in death are his parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda Mae (Jenkins) Lawrence; sons, Carl Edwin (Jennifer) and Michael David (Jamie) Lawrence; honorary sons, Noah Chitwood and Mike Jones; grandchildren, Cameron, Trystan, Kenzie and Kaleb Lawrence; siblings, Edith, Katherine Louise, Paul, Richard, Marie and Elsie; sisters in law, Linda, Marlene and Vickie; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Robley Rex VAMC for the compassionate care they provided to Mr. Lawrence and his family.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow.  Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 1 pm until 8 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
