Dorothy Ann Hunter

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Hunter (Benz), age 80, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Dorothy was born to James F and Margaret Benz on February 2, 1942. She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Benz (Heumann); father, James F. Benz; brother, James Benz; and son, Robin Hunter (Vicki).

Dorothy was a tremendous wife and mother of six, was passionately devoted to her family, their care and cooking for them. She also worked a variety of jobs including postal worker, baker, catering/serving, etc. Her hobbies included traveling, playing cards (pinochle and rummy) and bunco. Dorothy always made each and every family member and friends feel loved. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and enjoyed praying the rosary.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 62 years, John L. Hunter; children, Lola Richards (Rob), LaMont “Monty” Hunter, John P. Hunter, Kathleen Hunter; Kelli Shaffer; grandchildren, Michael Richards, Joshua Richards, Steffen Hunter, Stephanie Hunter, Ashley Woods, Chris Hunter, Chelsea Ritchie (Peyton), Bridget Dunn (Jeremey), Theotis Riddle, Jack Shaffer; great grandchildren; Kadence Dunn, Wyatt Hunter; sister, Pat Macy (Bill); and a host of family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, April 1, 2022 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd). Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4:00pm until the time of service at 7:00pm.

A Catholic Mass will be held on April 2, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (11501 Maple Way, Louisville, Kentucky, 40229).
