

Mr. James Richard Francisco, age 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Mr. Francisco was born September 17, 1945, in Broadhead Kentucky, to the late Victor and Ruby “Cox” Francisco. Mr. Francisco worked numerous years in the heating and cooling business. He retired from the JCPS school system as a bus driver. James was an avid University of Kentucky fan, and enjoyed watching his son-in-law drag race. Some hobbies of his included camping and fishing. He loved going back to his hometown to visit and share memories. He never met a stranger and could spark conversation with anyone. James was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather; and felt most joy spending time with his family.
Among those who preceded him in death are his parents; first wife, Darleen Francisco; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary Ellen Doninger; children, Debbie Francisco, Tammy Allen (Charlie), Frank Doninger (Amanda) and Anthony Doninger (Jodie); grandchildren, Jimmy (Cassandra), Kara (Giovonni), Spencer, Finley, Frankie, Dawson, Alexis (Josh), Charlie (Julie); great grandchildren, London, Jayce, Charlie, Easton, Aida and Emmy; fur baby, D.J.; numerous nieces and nephews; and host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (123 Winning Colors Drive, Mt. Washington, Kentucky.) with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 12:00pm until 8:00pm and on Wednesday from 9:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Kloeker and the staff at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville. Also, to everyone at Hospice of Louisville that cared for James.
