

Mr. James “Jamie” Anthony Via, age 48, of Shepherdsville, entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Jamie was born in Louisville, KY on June 12, 1975 to the late Warren Harvey Via Sr. and Patricia Mae Via.
In his professional life, he was currently a deputy clerk for the Bullitt County Clerk’s office and formerly a maintenance tech for Thornton Oil for 16 years.
Jamie’s own kidney transplant inspired him as advocate and spokesperson for the National Kidney Foundation and the KY Trust for Life. His altruism extended to the Dog Rescue Network and assisting with animal rescue transports along with Melody.
Jamie’s primary passion was music. He played in 65 South with his brothers and has spent the last 14 years as a bass player with Junction Creek.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his precious dogs, Jackson and Cindy; siblings, Clarence Steven Via, Warren Harvey Via Jr., Michael J. Via and June Ellen Blankenburg; grandmother, Mary McCubbins; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Via who helped raise him and Jessica Raymer; brothers-in-law, Curtis Johnson, George Mahara Sr. and Billy Banister and his former mother-in-law, Kathy Gittings.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 10 years and together for 14 years, Melody Denise Via; his cherished rescue dogs, Bindi and Koda; siblings, Debra Lee Johnson, Patricia Whittington (Steve), Melissa Via, Johnny Via (Kristi), Peggy Alexander (Bruce) and Melyssa Fox; parents-in-law, Charlene and Richard Maddox; sister-in-law, Angela Via; brothers-in-law, Kurt Maddox and James Blankenburg; dear friend, Sandra Via; his band family, drummer and his best buddy, Phil McHargue (Angel), keyboards, Terri Wening and lead guitar, Mike Wening; tons of nieces, nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 11, 2023 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday, December 10 from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of his service at 2pm at the funeral home in Mt. Washington.
Following the service, all are invited to gather at Brandi Fleming’s home at 163 Willowood Dr., Mt. Washington, KY for a gathering and meal.
