James Garland Roy

Mr. James Garland Roy, age 82, of Shepherdsville returned to his Heavenly Father on June 28, 2021. Mr. Roy was born on September 23, 1938 in Russell Springs, KY to the late Garland and Mary (Scales) Roy. He was a trucking executive and owner of his own trucking company and a member of Little Flock Baptist Church. Among those that preceded him in death are his parents; daughter, Sherri Adams; and brother, Wilbur Roy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 62 years, Elsa Lynne (Smith) Roy; children, Terry Roy and Perry Roy (Alysa); grandchildren, Michael Adams, Brooke Adams-Jones (Austin), Zach Roy, Dawson Roy, and their mother, Kelly, Sophia Roy, Isabella Roy, Andrew Roy and Alexander Roy; great-grandchildren, Kameron and Paisley Adams and Liam and Jack Jones; brothers, L.T. Roy and Paul Roy; sister, Rosemary Hart; son-in-law, Scott Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Little Flock Baptist Church (5500 N. Preston Hwy. Shepherdsville, KY 40165) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 10 am until time of service at the church. Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) are entrusted with the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
