Joan Ballard

JOAN ELAM BALLARD 88 of Shepherdsville passed away Friday, April 10, 2026. In her home and in her bed right where she always wanted to be at the end. She was a lover of the horses races and basketball season. She worked many jobs over her 88 years but being a live-in caregiver to "old people" was her true calling, which she continued to do until just 5 yrs ago.

She was born July 29, 1937 in Somerset, KY to Richard and Jewell (Reed) Elam. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dick Elam, 2 sisters Marlene Ramey, Anne Patterson. Also her Baby daughter Annie Laurie Baker.

She is survived by her sons Vern (Tonya), Mike (Jan), Ferlin (Connie), Jimmy (Margie) Baker and Marion Ballard.

Grandchildren Josh (Summer), Vernon W (Jerica), Ashley (Blu), Ben, Casey (Jordan), Rik, Sierra (Cameron) and Sydney.

Great grandchildren Elise (Carson), Sarah (Marcel), Emily, Stanley, Cacey Jo and Waylon.

Memorial visitation for Joan will be held on Friday April 17th 2026 from 11:00AM-6:00PM at Hardy Close Funeral Home in Shepherdsville KY.

Services will follow the visitation beginning at 6:00PM at the funeral home.

Pastor Nick Towles of Impact Shepherdsville COG, will be officiating the service.
