

age 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. He was born on August 3, 1940 to the late John Theodore, Sr. and Mary Gondola Kilner in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked as a TV Technician for Bob’s TV’s. Mr. Kilner was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Anne Kilner; siblings, Fred Kilner, Joyce Smith, Faye Nichols, Ron Kilner; and lifelong friend, Bob Goodlet.
Jay was a man who spoke his mind but had a sweet interior. He adored his wife, Mary Anne and sometimes her pets. He was an excellent role model for his family and friends and a great teacher of his trade, carpentry. Jay was a jack of all trades that always made time to give a helping hand. He was an avid U of K fan. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Dana Bryant (Pete), John W. Kilner II (Toni), Valerie Minter (Ken), Todd Kilner (Kelly), Kevin Kilner (Tammy), Marguerite Reed (David), Lisa Heady (Rikki), Larry Newton, Jr. (Shaleen); honorary son, Matt Kilner (Allison); 21 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Bill Kilner (Generose), Ted Kilner (Irene); sisters-in-law, Ona Kilner, Judy Kilner; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Rita Catholic Church (8709 Preston Hwy) with burial to follow in Hebron Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd).
