Mildred L. Dixon

Mrs. Mildred L. (Harshfield) Dixon, age 91, of Okolona, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Baptist Hospital with her daughters by her side. She was born on Valentine’s Day 1928 in Louisville, KY to the late Albert and Bertha Harshfield.

Mildred loved her Saturday night Bingo and all of her Bingo buddies. She also played Bunco anytime she could.

Among those who preceded her in death are, her husband, William “Henry” Dixon; her parents and 3 brothers, Vernon, “Bud” and Estel.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Pat Anderson (Keith) and Jo Ann Gardner (Jeff); 6 grandchildren, Kyle Anderson (Ashby), Katie Anderson (Steven), Erick Anderson (Mindy), Jamie Payton (Dan), Stephanie Ernst (Matt) and Jeffrey Gardner (Chelsey); 10 great-grandchildren with the 11th on the way; a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with entombment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff and palliative team at Baptist Hospital and Hosparus for all of their care and concern making Mrs. Dixon comfortable during her last days.
