Norma Jean Griffin Chesser

Mrs. Norma Jean Griffin Chesser, age 79 of Sheperdsville, Ky passed away in Louisville on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.  She was born in Morganfield, Ky on August 17, 1943, to the late Rev. George Henry Griffin and Edna Ruth Griffin.

She was a member of Evangel Shepherdsville and the Mt. Washington Church of God of Prophecy.  She volunteered and worked as a youth minister for 16 years, ladies ministries for 27 years and worked with her husband as clerk and treasurer for 12 years.  Some of her hobbies were cooking, home decorating and she loved her Red Hat family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Gail Griffin and two brothers, Henry Earl Griffin and Bobby Ray Griffin.

She is survived by her darling husband of 62 years, Eugene Chesser, having united in marriage on May 27, 1960.  Other survivors include, son, Rex Eugene Chesser (Charlotte); daughter, Jenny Renee Hardin (Charles); grandchildren, Camille Lawson (Stephen), Cameron Chesser (Lauren), Carissa Kulmer (Brian), Alisha Scott (Trey), Zachary Hardin (Alexis); great grandchildren, Charlie Chesser, Aubrey Lawson, Paisley Chesser, Blakely Chesser and Ellie Lawson; stepmother, Loraine Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends and family.  

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy.  Shepherdsville, KY 40165) with a private burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
