

Mr. Richard (Dick) Bradford, age 82, of Highview returned to his Heavenly Father on October 2, 2017. Mr. Bradford was born in Culbertson, Montana to the late Charles and Nora Bradford. At 17 years old, he started his career on the Great Northern Railroad rising to the position of Road Master in Seattle, Washington. He married Rita Dramstad on May 31, 1957 in Havre, Montana. He transitioned to a career as General Superintendent for Morrison Knudson of Boise, Idaho, relocating his family to Gagnon, Quebec, where the youngest daughter was born. From Quebec, he and his family moved to Pineville, West Virginia and after a year they transferred to Louisville, Kentucky where they lived for 5 years. Dick then accepted a position as project manager for Loram Construction rehabbing 40 miles of the Long Island Railroad. Upon leaving East Hampton, New York the family settled permanently in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. He was employed by SafTran Systems, until his retirement in 1997, where he acted as manager of signal systems installation. He worked in 48 states plus Canada and his family lived in 5 states. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Louisville, KY. He and his loving wife of 60 plus years were worldwide visitors of foreign countries. He loved his church Peace Lutheran Church. Among those that preceded him in death include his parents; and sister, Betty Lou Harmon. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rita Bradford; children, Steven Bradford (Charlette), Timothy Bradford, Richard Bradford, Jr. (Johanne), Patti Bradford-Roth (Terry) and Cathy Bradford-Oberle (Mark); grandchildren, Joshua Bratcher (Ashley), Tyler Bratcher (Amanda), Kody Bradford (Kelly) and Ryan Oberle; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Mia, Kaylen, Bailey, Avery, Konner and Kameron; and brother, Charles Bradford, in addition to several nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with inurnment in Brookland Cemetery.
