Sharlee Jane McDonald

Mrs. Sharlee Jane McDonald, age 76, of Valley Station, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 21, 2023. Mrs. McDonald was born in Louisville, KY on October 10, 1946 to the late Charlie Van Norman and Emma Ford Van Norman. She received her master’s degree in teaching and was a dedicated educator with Jefferson County Public Schools. She was a devoted member of New Salem Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was passionate about volunteering and spent many hours knitting items for Churchill Downs and the Children’s Hospital.

In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, Robert Eugene McDonald preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved dog, Peanut; her nephew, William Tracy Gillahan; great-nephew, William Joseph Gillahan (Barbara Flair); cousins, John Douglas, Martha Sue Hawkins, Randall Ford, Deborah McArdle, Samuel Douglas, Wade Campbell and Bobby Campbell; aunt, Ginny Ford; dear friends, Sue Ann Walker and Kelly and William Bright and a host of other dear family and friends. 

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
