Shirley Marie Ashley

Mrs. Shirley Marie (Carter) Ashley, age 88, of Okolona returned to her Heavenly Father on December 31, 2023. Mrs. Ashley was born on December 17, 1935, in Leitchfield, KY to the late Arthur and Hazel (Dennison) Carter. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching children and sewing. She loved going to the Shepherdsville Country Music Show every Saturday night. Among those that preceded her in death are her parents, husband, Teddy Ashley; son, Gary Ashley; grandson, Garry Ashley; and siblings, Murrell Carter, Elaine Meredith, Brenda Jones, Verna Kountz, and Larry Carter.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Mark Ashley (Karen), Michael Ashley (Sheila), Lisa Brown (Tom), and Anthony Ashley; 7 grandchildren, Mark, Carrie, Jessica, Tara, Krystal, Brittany, and Dylan; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Billy Carter, Barbara Varner, Pat Portman, Sharon Carter, Sandra Mercer, Johnny Carter, and Tommy Carter.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Monday, January 8, 2024, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road). Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 12 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
