Wayne Elton Shirley

Mr. Wayne E. Shirley, age 86, of Madisonville, KY, returned to his Heavenly Father on September 30, 2024. Wayne was born in Sulphur Wells, KY on September 22, 1938, to the late Arvist Shirley and Matery (Jessie) Shirley.  He worked for Hillerich & Bradsby Company for over 30 plus years in production and was a United States Army Veteran. Wayne loved going out in his boat fishing and enjoyed watching University of Kentucky basketball games. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his 3 sisters, Audrey Garrett, Mary Vinson, Mildred Clinard, 3 brothers, Danny, Engram, and Charles Jessie.

He leaves to cherish his memory his 2 daughters, Sheri Clinard (Philip), Karen Springfield (Jim), 2 sisters Judy Anthony (Gerald), Janet Stark, 5 brothers William Jessie (Lilly), Wendell Jessie (Doris), Billy, Jerry, and Willie Jessie, 4 grandchildren, and 8 greatgrandchildren. Along with a host of nieces, nephews’ other dear family, and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 1:30 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd).  Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland memory Gardens.
