Willie Mae Grant Simmons

Mrs. Willie Mae Grant Simmons, age 91, of Shepherdsville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Mrs. Simmons was born on October 13, 1925 in Shepherdsville to the late Robert Lee Grant and Winnie Amy Jones Grant. She was a retired Mt. Washington postal contract carrier and a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Among those who preceded her in death include, her husband, Dewey Lee Simmons; her sister, Amy Lee Tyler; nephew, Paul Tyler and nieces, Annetta Alcorn and Irma Dell McDaniel.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Patricia Ann Nation (Gilbert); grandsons, Wendall Scot Nation Sr. (Cindy) and Russell Dale Nation (Penny); great grandchildren, Wendall Scot Nation Jr., Amber Lynn Nation and Kristin Marie Nation; great- great grandchildren, Natalie and Madison Deats; her nieces and nephews who always held a special place in her heart, Sonny Tyler, Alberta Prather, Dean Tyler and Tommy Tyler and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (5285 KY-44, Shepherdsville, KY) with burial at Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
