Yvetta "Betty" Tucker Van Meter

Mrs. Yvetta “Betty” VanMeter, age 86, of Bardstown, Ky passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Flaget Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Hardin County, Kentucky on October 30, 1938, to the late Tilmon Tucker and Glennie (Hoskinson) Tucker. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was Baptist by faith and worked for many years as a waitress, she enjoyed eating out, taking road trips, playing slot machines, and reading a good book. However, most of all she loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was filled with a zest for life that never grew old. Rest in peace with the Heavenly Angels.

She was preceded in death by her parents and late husband Larry VanMeter, former husband Jerry Combest Sr., two sons Danny Mc Elvain, Jerry Combest Jr., daughter Linda Starks, grandson Christopher Deweese, and 2 nephews, three brothers Carl Tucker (Lorene), Lloyd Tucker (Yvenna), Shelby Tucker (Mary), sister Lucille Miller (Guy).

She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters Rhonda Reid, Lucy Combest, three grandsons Joshua Reid (Brittany), Zachery Combest, Jeremy Deweese, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. Again, Monday April 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery.
