

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner, Texas with Father John Peters officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery in Shiner, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 26, 2014.
Betty Jean was born on April 19, 1937 in Hallettsville, Texas. She was the daughter of Henry and Olivia (Wick) Tobola. She was raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Wilhelmina Tobola. Betty Jean married Alvin James Vaclavik on November 22, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas. Betty Jean was a Homemaker who diligently managed the family farm with her husband, Alvin. She enjoyed taking care of her flower garden, and always shared this joy by gifting cuttings with her sisters-in-law. In addition to flowers, she maintained a vegetable garden which she used to stock the shelves with a variety of homemade preserves. Betty Jean also delighted in sewing and quilting for her family. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. Betty Jean devoted many hours to church functions, local schools, and religious organizations, including Catholic Daughters and KJZT.
She is survived by one son; Alvin James Vaclavik, Jr. and his wife, Mildred of Shiner, Texas, seven daughters; Janice Garcia and her husband, Henry of Schulenburg, Texas, Patricia Vaclavik of Shiner, Texas, Cynthia Cano and her husband, John of Bay City, Texas, Sharon Haas of Shiner, Texas, LaTasha Nicole Vaclavik and her husband, Carlos of Canyon Lake, Texas, Jennifer Lynn Vaclavik of Bryan, Texas, BreAnna Jean Vaclavik of Boston, Massachusetts, one brother; Chester Tobola and his wife, Beatrice of Victoria, Texas, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparetns; Joseph and Wilhelmina Tobola, her parents; Henry and Olivia Tobola, one daughter; Laura Lynn Vaclavik Hights, one sister; Lois Stindt, and one great-grandson; Addon Garza.
