Alma Marie Rodgers Abbitt passed away on Monday June 25, 2018 peacefully at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 90. She was born March 5, 1928 in Marshall, Texas to Fred Alfonse Rodgers and Anita Hutton Rosalie.
Alma was a loving wife and a devoted mother of four. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #388. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, and above all, spending time with family.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry D. Abbitt and wife Jody and William F. Abbitt; daughter, Susan Marie Chandler and husband Ed; grandchildren, Courtney Casper, Tony Campbell, Aubrie Patton, Will Roggero, Alex Abbitt, Timothy Livingston, Sam Livingston, Mathew Edwardes, Robert Short, Scott Short, Jessica Clark along with all of their spouses; and 17 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Major Felton Abbitt; daughter, Doris Elizabeth Edwards; parents, Fred and Anita Rodgers; one sister; and four brothers.
A celebration of life will occur for Ms. Abbitt on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM with a visitation at 9:00 AM held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Chaplin Tony Nations will be officiating the services. An interment will occur Friday, June 29, 2018 following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion Post #388 in honor of Ms. Alma.
