Arlis M. Burris age 89, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on January 2, 2021. He was born July 29, 1931 in McGehee, Arkansas to Lena and Edgar Burris.
Arlis had many successful roles in life. He was a son, brother, uncle, father and grandfather. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 25 years before retiring. Arlis was a veteran of two wars, and a recipient of a bronze star. Perhaps his most important role in life was husband to his wife of 73 years, Helen Ruth. Their life together served to show others how to love unconditionally. Arlis was a Christian who loved the Lord, and a member of Shreve City Baptist Church.
Arlis is survived by his daughter Linda Erickson of Shreveport, LA; granddaughters Heather Phares and husband Travis of Shreveport, LA, and Amanda Guillory of Shreveport, LA; grandson Jason Hughes and wife Kaitlyn Shreveport, LA; great grandchildren Grayson Hutchins, Lyric, Baylor, Kylin, and Sawyer Phares, India Gray, Ivana and Ireland Guillory. He is also survived by Wanda and Gene Tullos of Carriere, MS and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and other family members.
Arlis is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Burris; mother Lena Burris; father Edgar Burris; sisters Jeanette, Marie, Mildred, Juanita and Alice; brothers Forest, and Clyde Burris.
A visitation for Arlis will be held on Wednesday January 6, 2021 from 1:00-1:45pm in the Kinkade Room at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at the Pavilion in Centuries Memorial Park, with Gene Nix officiating.
The family would like to once again extended their gratitude to all the staff at The Bloom in Bossier City, for their continued love and compassionate care of our family member. They would also like to thank the nurses at St. Joseph Hospice for helping them maneuver the most difficult times.
