Bert Mead Carroll

Funeral services for Bert Mead Carroll, 78, will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 23rd at Centuries Memorial, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108. Visitation with the family will be on Monday Jun 22nd from 5-7 pm at Centuries Memorial.

Bert was born in Shreveport, LA, on March 25, 1937 and passed away on June 16, 2015. He graduated from Fair Park High School, and then entered the Air Force, where he retired after serving 20 years. He started in aircraft maintenance and then moved to recruiting, specializing in nurse recruitment. After moving back to his home town of Shreveport, he worked for Wray Ford and later retired from the State Employment Office working with veterans.

He was an avid bowler and could be found 2 -3 days a week at the bowling alley. He was inducted into the Louisiana State USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame on June 7, 2014. Bert also had a love for cars that began when he was a boy working for Brooks Garage and continued throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Roy Carroll Sr., Helen Mead Carroll and his wife of 56 years, Glenna Lea Carroll. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Renee Waggoner, her husband David Britt Waggoner of North Richland Hills, Texas and grandson Lloyd Britt Waggoner of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
