

Shreveport, LA Bettye Jean Lafitte was born September 8, 1930 in Dess, LA, her parents were Zelma and Jasper DeLatin. She went to be with her Lord May 12, 2015 in Shreveport.
A service celebrating the life of Bettye Jean Lafitte will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, 11:00 AM at Summer Grove Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Murry Hodge and Rev. Dennis Wilton Anthony. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Florien, LA at 2:30 PM.
While living in Groves, Texas Bettye was a tailor/seamstress for more than 25 years at Drydan’s. After moving to Shreveport Bettye became an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church for the last 25 years. She was a member of the Priscilla Sunday School Class, a church greeter and sang in the Joy Choir. She went to Schumpert Health Plex regularly and had numerous friends and workout buddies there. All were blessed by her special loving Hugs!
Bettye is preceded in death by her husbands, Glen R. Hopkins and James E. Lafitte; her parents; and six brothers. She is survived by her son, Billy G. Hopkins and wife Laura A.; Step-daughter, Debbie Bellamy; step-sons, Jimmy Lafitte and wife Beverly, Gary Lafitte and wife Daryl, Johnny Lafitte and wife Tillie, Bruce Lafitte and wife Karen; grandchildren, Eric Lafitte and wife Britini, Chrissy McMenis and husband James, David Lafitte and wife Stephanie, Jennifer McDearmont and husband Tim, Mandy Ramsey and husband Travis, Capt. Justin Bellamy and wife Cayla, Stacy Richerson and husband Jason, Austin Bellamy, Christopher Lafitte and wife Stephanie, Matthew Lafitte, Kayla Guastella and husband Brett, Brittany Pizarro and husband Peter, Brooke Lafitte, Emily Lafitte, and Erin Lafitte; a special daughter, Kat Arnold; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Blackwell; brothers, Charles Anthony and wife Claire, Wilton Anthony, and Gordon Anthony; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
