Calder Joseph “Joe” Cook, Sr., age 79 of Keithville, LA passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 after battling Covid 19.
Joe was born on April 25, 1941 in Dothan, Alabama to R.Q. and Annie Pearl Cook. Mr. Cook graduated from Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, AL, Magna Cum Laude in 1966. After graduation, he and Mary moved to the Shreveport area to begin work at Grawood Christian School where he taught for 20 years. He also spent many years working at Summer Grove Pharmacy, delivering medicine to shut-ins and the elderly. He retired from CVS pharmacy in 2010.
Left to cherish Joe’s memory is his wife of 55 years, Mary Cook; daughter Kimberly Griffith and husband, Larry; son Joey Cook and wife, Dahlia; daughter Amy Hall and husband, Wiley; twin sister Joyce Mims; brother Vinson Cook and wife Juanita; brother John Cook and wife, Beverly; grandchildren Hope Griffith; Kaylee Ivester and husband Nathaniel; Taylor (Griffith) Paz; Zackary Griffith; Connor Cook; Joshua and Emmalee Hall; great-grandchildren Torrin and Teagan Griffith; Juniper and Magnolia Ivester; Amilya Paz, Alayna and Gabriel Martinez; as well as countless numbers of nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, R.Q. and Annie Pearl Cook; brother Roy Cook; sister Christine Holland; sister Dorothy Branch; granddaughter Heather Griffith; great-granddaughter Abygail Paz.
Mr. Cook’s life was a life of service. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joe is scheduled for Saturday June 6th, 2020 at 2pm in the Chapel at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. Heath Peloquin will be officiating.
