Curtis was the son of Rev. Lewis John Turner and Mrs. Louise Skelton Turner. He grew up in the hills of Virginia and graduated from East Tennessee State after completing two years at Hiwassee College.
A transfer brought Curtis and his family to Shreveport, where after forty years in the field of insurance he retired. In his free time, Curtis ran six marathons including the Boston Marathon, and enjoyed riding his bike.
Curtis served his country in the United States Army and retired but was called back into active duty during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty five years of service.
Curtis and Dianne enjoyed traveling across the United States, Canada and Europe. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church and served on many committees.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, David. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Hays Turner, son, Daniel Turner, daughter, Gina Turner and their mother, Barbara Turner, brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Joy Turner and his sister Lois Turner as well as many family members, who loved him.
A memorial service for Curtis will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 3715 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana 71105. A visitation will be held at the church following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
