David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. He graduated from Southwood High School class of 1981. After high school David attended VoTech where he received a machinist certification. He loved working with his hands and worked at Libbey Glass for 28 years. His coworkers in machine repair were his extended family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Nascar, especially Jimmie Johnson. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved trips to the lake. Some of his favorite memories were trips to Lake Ouachita in Arkansas where he mastered barefoot skiing. He also loved jet skiing. He never met a stranger and was always helping someone. He had a kind heart, pure soul, and giving spirit. He was loyal to his friends and family. He loved children and they loved him. He was a big LSU and Saints fan. He was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ben and Mary Lou Daniel, Adam Ebarb and Florence Myatt, his in-laws Harold and Peggy Chamberlain and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Shelly Daniel. He is also survived by his daughters Megan and Jessica who were the light of his life; his mother and father David and Verna Daniel; his sister and brother in law Cindy and Steve Gillum, his brother and sister in law Bryan and Kay Daniel; his brother in law and wife Carney and Jeri Chamberlain; sister in law and husband Kathy and David Romine; sister in law Brenda Eichelberger; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was courageous and he was our hero. He fought the good fight and finished the race. He is no longer in pain and is walking the streets of gold. We would like to thank everyone for the prayers, calls, cards and visits over the last 2 years. Special thanks to the medical teams at LSU Med Center, TIRR Hospital and Lifecare.
Thank you Dr. Nichols and Dr. Brynn for loving our David. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Millstead Hunting Club and the Bienville Hunting Club.
