David Randall Rockett, Sr “Roc” 74 was born in Bernice Louisiana on January 3, 1948. Roc passed away after a long struggle with cancer on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and friends. A private family graveside service will be held at Centuries Memorial in Shreveport, La.
Roc was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and Kilgore College. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the battleship Robert H. McCard during the Vietnam conflict then later stationed in the Mediterranean from Midway Island.
Roc worked for nearly 50 years in the industrial supply industry closing out his career recently at Purvis Industries.
Roc loved to hunt and fish. Displayed at his homes in Greenwood, Black Bayou, and his final home in Rosedale were his many trophies garnered during a lifetime in the woods and on the lakes.
With all of his successes, his walk in faith was one of his best. Roc served Kings Highway Christian Church as a Deacon, Elder as well as Board Chair, property Chair, and his most rewarding role as a church youth sponsor for more than 20 years. As youth sponsor, he traveled the country with the Chi Rho and CYF groups in service missions and shenanigans that are still legendary to this day. Blessings on all the kids, parents who participated, and the ministers he served during these amazing days gone past.
