David Charles Williams finally got his heart's desire to go home to heaven, to be with the Lord and his beloved mama, Carolyn Sue James Williams. David, who was named after his two uncles, David Carlton James and Charles Edmond James, was born on February 12, 1974, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed from this mortal life on August 7, 2023. David was an only child, and he and his mother were devoted to each other. David was born with severe cerebral palsy and mental retardation, and the doctors advised at birth that he be placed in an institution, because he would never walk, talk, be able to feed himself, and so on. Those doctors were not well acquainted with his mother, Carolyn Sue, nor her parents, Herman Frank James and Labrillia Elaine Thomas James. David did learn to walk, talk, feed himself, and many more things, due to the love and devotion of his mother and grandparents. The doctors said David would not live past the age of 20; however, he was 49 years old at the time of his passing.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Sue James Williams (11-27-2022), his grandparents, Mr. Herman and Mrs. Billie James, his uncle David Carlton James and his aunt, Debra Lynn James Thompson.
David is survived by his Uncle Charles and Aunt Becky James, Uncle Will and Aunt Mindy James, Aunt Kay Bates James (David Carlson James), Aunt Barbara Barbo Cobb and Aunt Sherry and Uncle Andy Blankenship.
David is survived by numerous cousins and friends. Special mention goes to his "sister-cousin", Stella Thompson McGuffee (who was raised with David for numerous years after the death of her mother, Debbie Thompson), special cousin, Deanna Green, who visits always made him happy, and "buddy cousins" Cody Blankenship and A.J. Blankenship, who spent much time with David since they were born.
Finally, special mention is made to the employees of Cornerstone Hospital, who loved and cared for David during some of his darkest hours, including bestowing gifts of some of his favorite things (Clint Black music and a black hat!), and to the Guest House employees (the nursing home where he resided since he began the use of a feeding tube.) There is a heartfelt thanks sent out to those employees who took a special interest in David, and whose special attention made his days bearable. Special mention goes out to his R.N., Caitlin, who was very good at cajoling David. But we absolutely cannot forget his R.N. "wife" Shanna, whose very presence made his face light up, as well as the other "wives" he had at the nursing home, all of whom he treasured! We believe he had a total of three "wives" but be assured that each one was just as special as the last. And Aunt Sherry would like to mention a special thanks to R. N. Shanna, Because over the past year since the passing of Carolyn Sue James Williams, and during David's medical trials and tribulations since that time, Shanna has not only been David's "Number One Wife," but she also became an angel for Aunt Sherry with her many hugs and much love shown.
David had preplanned arrangements with Centuries Memorial Funeral Home of Shreveport, Louisiana. Many thanks to them for all their patience and assistance. Services will be private.
