Services for Mr. Deb Speights, 90, will be held at 10:00 a.m.,Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Chaplain Dana Casey of Willis Knighton Hospice. Interment will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 2, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Speights was born in Keatchie, LA on April 20, 1920, to the late Robert and Minnie Speights. He passed away Thursday, October 28th peacefully at his residence after a lengthy illness. Deb was a lifelong resident of Shreveport and a successful self employed business man since 1946. He was a member and served one term as President of The Used Car Dealers Association and a World War II veteran having served in the Pacific with the 73rd Seabees. He was honorably discharged in 1946, and served five terms as President of the 73rd Seabee Association.

Deb is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years; Mrs. Ruth Speights, his oldest daughter, Carolyn Sapp; one sister; and three brothers. He is survived by his son, Rickey Speights; daughter, Debby Speights; and three grandchildren, Chris Ogden and Justin Smith of Shreveport, and Tracy Murphy of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren, McKenna Murphy and soon to be, Ernest Ogden; two sisters, Palma Fargerson and Robbie Morgan of Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be Don Arnold, Danny Morgan, Robert Rowe, Shawn Fargerson, Greg Clemens, and Bobby Ogden.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Willis Knighton Hospice and their special nurse, Julie Brown, and Deb's special sitters, Karla Barett, Rosalyn Mitchel and Cordelia Barett.
