Don was born on November 11, 1954 in Oakland, CA and passed away on October 5, 2016 in Shreveport, LA, surrounded by his family and friends. Don graduated from Parkway High School in 1972 and then majored in engineering at LA Tech University. He worked at Valve Works USA until his death. He was a smart and ingenious man who could repair and fix anything. He loved having a challenging project to work on. Don truly loved his family. His greatest joy in life was being with his son, Aaron and teaching him everything about life, hunting and work. He loved Ballroom/Square Dancing, hunting and attending church with his church family. He loved serving as an Elder in the Priesthood and other callings at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed his dogs and TV/Talk Radio. He loved to go on vacations and spending time with his family.
Don had a six year battle with cancer and while it may have damaged his body, it never damaged his spirit. He was full of life and continued doing the things he loved until the very end, such as working at the shop, working and hunting with his son, working on his numerous projects and being a Tapaw to his only grandchild.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest A. and Mildred H. Vaughan; two aunts and one uncle.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Don is his wife of 29 years, Anita; his son, Aaron and wife Chelsey; grandson, Beaux Willis; cousins, Peggy Rhodes, Patsy Rushing, David Farmer and their families. Don was well loved by his wife’s family and is also survived by numerous other family and friends.
Don will be always loved and greatly missed by all who knew him.
