Services celebrating the life of Dorothy Pittman Cotton, 84, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Dr. Ed Gonzalez of Linwood Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born on October 15, 1926 in Rhinehart, LA to Frank and Olivia Pittman. Mrs. Cotton and her husband Grover were founding members of Linwood Baptist Church, she was the oldest member of the church and was officially named “Mother” of the church. Mrs. Cotton was employed as a secretary for Industrial Sheet Metal Works for many years.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents and her husband.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Dorothy are her sons; Gary D. Cotton and wife Nancy and Jeff W. Cotton and wife Brenda, two grandchildren; Alicia Mordach and husband Dave and Jeromy Cotton and wife Brittney and one great granddaughter, Olivia Mordach.
