Earl often said, “to know me is to love me.” Although he usually meant it facetiously, those who knew Earl understand how accurate this statement is. Earl possessed a determination and strength of character that is to be admired and emulated. He had a strong sense for what was right and did not hesitate to say when something was wrong. He was a force to be reckoned with.
Earl dealt fairly with others and was even-tempered; despite the occasional “Goodness gracious, Dorothy”. He cared deeply for his wife and daughters, took unabashed pride in his five grandsons, and found joy in his great-grandchildren. He loved his family unequivocally and without reservation. He taught his grandsons fishing, hunting, dominos, bourre and what it is to be men. Though his guidance and steady presence will be missed by all. He possessed a sharp mind and could always deliver a solution to your problem; prefaced with a “let me tell you somethin’.” With him in your corner problems didn’t seem so big. His strength gave others strength. To know Earl was to love him, his legacy will live on, and his memory will be cherished by those he left behind.
A visitation for Earl will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life service will occur Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM, with interment to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Deacon Mike Whitehead will be officiating the services.
