George worked for Desoto Parish as a school bus driver for 26 years. George had a great love for the outdoors and his passion in life was deer hunting. He was always in the woods and he shared his love of hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. George was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly and provided for them well. He always had a smile for everyone. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him best and loved him most.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Gloria Guice Derbonne.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Derbonne; children, Karen Derbonne Stevens (Sean), Kevin Derbonne and Kenneth Eugene Derbonne (Patty); sons, Jonathan Lynn Smith and James Glenn Smith; grandchildren, Brittiney Combest (Colby), Ryan Stevens (Felisha), Kristi Stevens, Kaleb Derbonne, Isaiah Derbonne and Jez Derbonne; great grandchildren, Carson and Cadence Combest, Makayla and Cameron Cuttie, Grayson Barlow; brothers, Thomas Derbonne, Ellis Derbonne and John Derbonne; niece, Deborah Derbonne.
A Memorial Service for George will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Maple Springs Baptist Church, 17013 Highway 5, Logansport, Louisiana 71049 with Bro. Rusty Hall officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to friend Brenda Evans for her love and dedication.
