

George Paul Grimes was born August 8, 1937 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to the late James Clyde Grimes and Lottye Thomas Grimes. He was a 1956 graduate of Mineral Springs High School. He retired from the Shreveport Police Department, where he achieved the rank of Corporal. He served his community as a Shriner. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Blanchard. In recent years, he became a member of Loners on Wheels and traveled extensively on his 3-wheel motorcycle as well as in his Ram Pickup, and RV. During those years, he resided in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Livingston, Texas; and Nashville, Arkansas before returning to Shreveport to be closer to his niece, Penny Sauls and her family.
Paul, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, enjoyed biking, camping, traveling and fishing. He was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan as well as a fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. He also loved to cook.
Paul passed away on December 20, 2024 at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James T. Grimes and wife, Floriene Grimes; and nephew, James Kenneth Grimes.
Left to cherish his memory are his niece, Penny Grimes Sauls and husband, Dale Sauls; great-niece, Candace Jones and husband, Kenny Jones; great-great-niece, Sophia Claire Jones and great-great-nephew, Saxton Calloway Jones.
He will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park next to his loving family. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Brookdale-Waterview Court for their care and service to Paul during the past 22 months.
