Willie Gerald Brumley was born on October 5, 1946 in Minden, Louisiana to the late Willie Brumley and Mary Woodard Brumley. He served in the United States Air Force Reserve honorably for six years following his graduating from High School. For 46 years, Gerald dedicated his life to the building supply industry, becoming a trusted advisor and friend to countless clients. He was known for his unwavering commitment, vast knowledge, and exceptional customer service. He was more than just a salesman. He was a devout Christian and an ordained Deacon. As a Deacon, he guided and supported family and friends. His profound faith and dedication to God were evident in every aspect of his life. In addition to his religious service, he was a Mason, who contributed to his community.
Gerald, was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His love for his family was boundless. He made it clear that family and friends were the most important to him. Gerald was one never to hide his feelings. If you knew and loved Gerald, he loved you right back. He was the biggest LSU fan, win or lose he was a Tiger Fan.
Gerald went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 77. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his life’s work and faith have left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Murrell Brumley and sister-in-law, Betty Timmons Brumley.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Hinds Brumley; daughter, Kim Brumley Gary and husband, Rick of Bossier City, LA ; son, Eric Brumley and wife, Jennifer of Shreveport, LA; grandkids, Haley Gary Lee and husband, Tobby, Hunter Gary, Hannah Kate Gary, Leah Brumley and Beaux Brumley; honorary grandkid, Elizabeth Claire Scott; great grandkids, Matthew Fisher Lee, Noah Hudson Lee and Baby Lee #3 on the way; along with a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
A memorial visitation for Gerald will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookwood Baptist Church, 9014 Brookwood Church Way, Shreveport, LA 71106, followed by a memorial celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Pastor David Rice and Pastor John Harp.
