

Graveside services to honor the life of Mr. Gilbert L. Womack, 84, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2010, at Antioch Cemetery, Quitman, LA under the direction of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Robert Tyler. Visitation will be Thursday evening between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport
Gilbert was born on April 1, 1925, in Jackson Parish, LA to the late Gilbert and Augusta Peel Womack and left this life early Tuesday morning, February 23, 2010. He served his country with pride during WWII in the U.S. Navy and later worked in sales for G & G Distributing and was also a member of Pinecroft Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Allie and Lester Anderson; sister-in-law, Nell Weems; and brothers-in-law, James Anderson and John Tinsley. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Geraldine Womack; daughter, Jerry Ann Masters and husband, Charles; granddaughter, Susan Sullivan and husband, Jeff; grandson, Charles Lomond Masters; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Ben Sullivan (His joy for growing old); sister, Barbara Harville and husband, Bobby; sister-in-law, Zora Tinsley; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lester “Junior” and Helen Anderson.
Pallbearers will be Danny Peel, Steven Head, Kevin Norred, Jeff Sullivan, Charles L. Masters, and Charles F. Masters. Honorary pallbearers will be Uncle “G.L.’s” nieces and nephew; Belinda Harville, Renee Jacob, Mike Weems, Sandra Maxwell, Pat Head, Johnye Gatlin, Gail Tyler, and Tanya Norred; “You were all as special to him as he was to you.”
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Richard Haynie, Dr. Sylvia Noble, Susan Brown R.N., Ninette Pennell, and the staff of Lifepath Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
