Helen Ruth (Wash) Burris, age 87, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Saturday April 11, 2020. Helen was born April 5, 1933 in McGehee, Arkansas to Lillian Tullos Wash and Armon Wash.
Helen held numerous roles throughout her life, she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a military spouse and beloved friend to many. As a military wife she experienced life in Puerto Rico, and Morocco. Her hobbies include crocheting, knitting, ceramics, sewing, and Arlis. She taught a special education Sunday school class for many years. She was a Christian who loved the Lord and a member of Shreve City Baptist Church.
Helen is survived by her husband of 71 years, Arils M. Burris of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter Linda G. Erickson of Shreveport, Louisiana; Edward Erickson of Arkansas; Granddaughter Heather Phares and husband Travis of Shreveport, Louisiana; granddaughter Amanda Guillory of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandson Jason Hughes and wife Kaitlyn of Shreveport, Louisiana; great grandchildren, Grayson Hutchins, Lyric Phares, Baylor Phares, Kylin Phares, Sawyer Phares, India Gray, Ivana Guillory, and Ireland Guillory. She is also survived by Dorothy Wash of McGehee, Arkansas; Wanda and Gene Tullos of Carriere, Mississippi, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and other family members
Helen was preceded in death by; father Armon Wash and mother Lillian Tullos Wash; brother Edwand Lee Wash and sister Elizabeth Wilhite.
A graveside service for immediate family members will be held at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport. Officiating will be Gene Nix. The family regrettably cannot invite Helen's many friends due to the current pandemic.

Your sincerity in loving and caring provides not only a safe haven, but a home! We also thank the nurses of St. Joseph’s hospice for being a phone call away at any given time.
