

Visitation will be on Friday, January 11, from 5-8pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 12 at 11am with graveside service to follow. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl V. Provenza V.P.
He was born on September 9, 1928 in Hattisburg, Mississippi to William J. and Helen Augusta “Gussie” Franke Norton. They moved to Gulfport where he later met and married his wife, his “Always”, Joyce, on February 23, 1950. A business entrepreneur, he always had a strong professional and driven work ethic working in the field of communications when in 1961 they settled in Shreveport where he was the owner of ESCO - Electronic Sales and Service Company (affiliated with Executone). Now retired, his career spanned more than five decades during which time he earned the respect and admiration of his customers, colleagues, and competitors.
He served his country in the Navy as a Yeoman 3rd class and in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in WWII. Active in the community from Gemini Krewe to Chairman of March of Dimes one year bringing the famous Dave Clark Five to the fundraiser event. He was a former Chapter President of Barksdale Air Force Base AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association), Charter member SBEA: Shreveport Bossier Executive Association, and served as a board member of ELTEC. A mentor to others he volunteered well into retirement with the Shreveport Chapter of SCORE – Counselors to America’s Small Businesses. He was also a long time member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church.
He enjoyed working in the yard and spending time at the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Being a world traveler, he was particularly enchanted by the bells of Ireland. He will be fondly remembered as well for his gift of whistling as he went about daily activities and playing the harmonica with passion.
He is survived by wife, Joyce; son, Mike, and daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Huntington, WVA; daughter, Cynthia, and son-in-law, Jack (Rick) Robertson of Shreveport; daughter, Laura, and son-in-law Doug Fletcher of Houston; grandson, Chad Robertson, and granddaughters Rachael, Emily, and Olivia. He is also survived by two sisters, Bea Miller and Ruby Morton, and many precious nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, and two sisters.
