Funeral services for James (Jim) Oman Bean, 84, of Shreveport will be held Friday, March 8th 11 am, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Willis Dear and Dr. Jonathan King. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Centuries Memorial Park Funeral home.
Mr. Bean was born on April 24, 1939, in Overton, Texas to the late James Otto and Oma Dell Whitley Bean. He attended Christ United Methodist Church. Jim was passionate about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening. He was known for his love of family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was affectionately known as “Paw” to all his grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will always be carried in the hearts of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Charlotte Bean, children James F. Bean and wife Bettye, of Tyler, Doug Bean and wife Ronda, of Shreveport, daughter Shana Long and husband Darren of Shreveport, daughter Shay Duttle of Clovis, California; grandchildren, Rachel, Reese, and Hadley Bean, Krystal and husband Daniel Greber, Jon-Michael Briceno, and Lindsey Briceno, Dedra and husband Brad Veath, Tiffani McLeod and husband Brandon, Chrystal Camp-Kravtsov, Kasey Duttle, Dylan Duttle; Great Grandchildren; Jim’s very Special great-grandchild, Riley Greber who lit up every day of his life for the past 14 years. Palmer Helmer, Zoie McLeod, Landon McLeod, Caitlyn Camp, Niko Kravtsov, Eva Kravtsov. Mr. Bean is survived by one sister, Patty Dell Hartsell and husband Donald; and was preceded in death by three sisters, Cleo Molder, Norma Jean Cotton, and Ramona Gramling.
