James Henry Zavecz, 78, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was born December 15, 1946, in Bethlehem, PA. He was the son of the late John and Cecelia Zavecz. He was the loving husband of the late Suzanne Zavecz for 41 years.
James retired from LSU Health Sciences Center, where he was a Professor of Pharmacology. He loved birdwatching, listening to music, and reading late into the night. His wry humor, sharp intelligence, and limitless love for his family will be deeply missed.
He will be loved and remembered by his daughter Rachel Zavecz and sister Kathleen Zavecz.
He was predeceased by his wife Suzanne Zavecz and sister Elaine Zavecz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, 929 Jordan St., in Shreveport, led by Father Jean Bosco Uwamungu. The burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
